Bloke Bingo
The news is now in from the press release that was issued today, that the first online bingo site aimed solely at men bingo players has just launched on the net on the virtue fusion network, but is this a good thing? It has become apparent over the past year that more and more men are delving into the world on online bingo, but to launch a bingo site called “Bloke Bingo” now come on, that I think it taking things a bit too far. What are these online bingo sites trying to do, ostracize men and women, is that not just a little bit sexist?
It has to be said that there are online bingo sites on the net that seem to be aimed at the female online bingo player, take “888 Ladies Bingo” for instance, just from the name of their online bingo site you would say that they are definitely aimed at the ladies, wouldn’t you? Well there are a couple of ways of looking at this one because with Vic Reeves as the face of their site (who by the way is a man although he is dressed up as a lady) for those of you that don’t know, it is a bit of tongue in cheek really and we know for a fact that lots of men play at 888 Ladies Bingo, so they have not been put off the name of their online bingo site.
Bloke Bingo on the other hand is definitely aimed at the male bingo player and in my opinion this is a real shame and not the route online bingo sites should be taking. We talk about fair gaming, well what about fair online bingo play for both sexes? Meaning bingo sites that are aimed at both female players and male players alike! Whilst more men are playing bingo now, women still outnumber them by a mile, so Bloke Bingo may find that they may have bitten of more than they can chew, on the other hand there may be a real niche in the market for bingo for blokes, the fruit will be in the pudding if they are still round on the net in a few years time.
So my question is will Bloke Bingo catch on? Well that will remain to be seen over the coming months, but I just can’t imagine that an online bingo site where lots of blokes are chatting in online bingo chat rooms would be that much fun to play at and would they admit to this down the pub with their mates? I think not!

Hello, let me introduce myself. My name is Mikey and I am the admin for Bloke Bingo
If I may address some of your questions/concerns, hopefully we can very much come to live in peace.
Firstly I would say that Bloke Bingo wasn’t set up to segregate the market, it was set up because I have worked long and hard to convince the bingo networks that a site such as mine is needed in a market which is pretty much totally focussed on its female players.
I am a bit astounded at the fact you could possibly think my site is sexist? Personally I have come across sites such as Bingo Chicks, Bingo Wags, Ann Summers Bingo, Bingo4Her, Bingo Chicks and very much so on… All totally aimed at women but really haven’t made me think that “they are sexist” just that, “boy, I wish I had somewhere I could play that was aimed at ME”.
We could also start applying this concept across the board and I don’t think it’s ever been said that magazines (either online or offline) focussed entirely on women or men are thought of as sexist? They just provide entertainment for whatever niche market of that sex they have gone for.
You may think Bloke Bingo is some huge corporate machine that is chewing away at an already saturated bingo market but it is most definitely not. Personally I have had to fight every step of the way to get this site up and running and even though we have wonderful support through the Better Bingo Network, it’s really been an uphill struggle because everyone is completely focused on bingo sites for women and everything else is pointless. Hopefully I can beg to differ.
I do think that your vision of “blokes” sat in the pub chatting to their mates about bingo is slightly old fashioned. Blokes are fixed with this stigma but I think you will find that not all of us men go down to the pub every night with our mates and drink until we can’t stand up. None of the men I know do that anyway!
I will just say also that in our first day, nearly 25% of our signups were female. It’s an interesting statistic really as that’s the exact same as male signup rates on the more “girl” orientated bingo sites. There really is nothing stopping girls signing up to Bloke Bingo, and I am sure a lot will because they want what we offer, prizes and competitions that are not aimed at girly girls.
I sincerely hope I have managed to make you think twice of the motives of this site and that you may even agree that there are next to no sites that cater for men at all in the bingo world.
Hence Bloke Bingo exists and long may it continue.
On a side note, I created love2bingo.com 6 or so months ago which is very much a girly girl site, especially for my girlfriend Lisa, who wanted to promote her run for Cancer Research UK.
Thanks for listening anyway!

Hello Mikey,
It was good to get your comment about Bloke Bingo and was interesting to read another take about bingo for men players.
We wish you good luck with Bloke Bingo and it was also interesting to hear that you have had the same amount of women bingo players signing up as men.
