Bingo in the Spotlight
In one way or another through TV advertising campaigns to TV sponsorship deals, bingo has been in the spotlight throughout 2008 and this trend looks like it is set to continue during 2009. So just who has been all out in the media this past year and who has left things pretty much to chance an online search engines like google to get them in the public domain? Foxy Bingo, Wink Bingo and Ladbrokes Bingo seem to stick in my mind in 2008, as they have all come up with some great media campaigns this year and their adverts have also all be hauled in front of the (ASA) at one point or another, with Foxy Bingo being the only advert that escaped a ban by the Advertising Standards Authority.
TV advertising has gone a long way to get online bingo (out there) so to speak, as it is the one tool that reaches millions of people in a relatively easy way, although it has to be said, this does not come cheap by anyone’s standards. When Ladbrokes Bingo launched their latest online bingo TV advert, they had a budget of a whopping £3 million pounds and they hit the streets of Liverpool with gigantic sphere like balls, where they run amok during the three days of filming.
We really liked the Ladbrokes Bingo online bingo TV advert as it was all about the “fun” and enjoyment, of the bingo game and it was far removed from the tacky bored housewife kind of adverts that we have seeen plenty off over the years.
Wink Bingo have been massive in the media glare since the very first moment they hit the Internet, back in February 2008. They have produced up-teen online bingo TV adverts in this very short space of time and they also became the sponsors of All Star Family Fortunes, that is hosted by Vernon Kay, plus they sponsored ITV2 daytime TV. These sponsorship deals however are set to draw to a close at the end of December 2008 and it still remains to be seen which direction Wink Bingo will be taking this forthcoming year.
Foxy Bingo always seem to have come up with great online bingo TV adverts to view and what was particularly great about their latest advert was that they incorporated real bingo players from their actual bingo site into their ad, along with the star of the show of course, the FOX himself.
We aim to keep track of how bingo progresses in from of the media spotlight during 2009 and it will be interesting to see how it fairs compared to 2008.
